Even in a region deeply rooted in winemaking tradition such as Friuli Venezia Giulia, an interesting evolution is taking place through the introduction of resistant grape varieties, created by crossing European vines (Vitis vinifera) with American and Asian vine species.
These varieties demonstrate a natural resilience to the most common fungal diseases, such as downy mildew and powdery mildew, in harmony with the philosophy of research and experimentation that has always guided Paolo Rodaro, who chose to personally explore their potential.
The use of resistant varieties such as Sauvignon Nepis, Soreli, and Cabernet Eidos significantly reduces the need for phytosanitary treatments, proving especially valuable in humid climate areas while encouraging a more environmentally conscious approach.
This translates into fewer soil interventions, reduced vineyard operations, and greater attention to the health and balance of the soil ecosystem.
